About Maple Shade Rotary PDF Print E-mail

Bob_clockMaple Shade Rotary Club began in 1970 when a group of Kiwanis members decided their goals were more in keeping with those of Rotary and changed allegiances.  Those dozen founders held the first local Rotary meeting at The German Kitchen, the historical site of Sensational Host Caterers, where the club meets today.  Since that day, the club has grown steadily to a healthy 50 members in early 2008.  Membership is diverse in age, race, religion, and gender.

Maple Shade is served by its Rotary Club through the social activities the Club sponsors as well as the financial investment the Club makes to the community.

The Club's annual pancake breakfast, beef and beer social, golf outing, family walk/run outing and participation in events such as the Sidewalk Sale help make Maple Shade a more vibrant town to live and do business.

Maple Shade Rotarians are involved in the community.  When a local disabled child needed a wheelchair ramp her family could not afford the Rotary Club stepped forward and provided the ramp.  When school children need coats or dictionaries, and American servicemen and women need assistance, Rotary acts.

Members dedicate time monthly to the littlest members of the community by participating in a visiting reader program at Yocum School that provides mentoring and fosters interest in   reading along with community service.
